Crank Bearing Support Kit, MSX125/Grom 1st and 2nd Gen
This kit adds an extra bearing to the end of the crankshaft on the flywheel side, to limit vibration and increase the life of the crankshaft, especially in modified engine with higher than standard rpm.
Please note that this is not a fix for a damaged, out of true crank, so please ensure that your crank is in good condition before fitting this kit.
Unlike some other kits, no additional oil drain hole drilling is required as the bearing retention design allows oil to splash into the non-sealed bearing, providing the necessary lubrication.
Fitting Instructions
1) Drain the oil into a suitable container.
2) Remove LH side cover.
3) Push supplied bearing into the center of the stator which is retained to the LH cover
4) Remove 3x M6x20 bolts holding on the stator. These are replaced with the 3x M6x25 bolts provided in the kit and also the bearing retaining tabs. Note that there are two different types of tabs (1x TPER-0101B & 2x TPER-0103C). Tab TPER-0103B fits on top of a 1mm thick steel plate, whereas the two TPER-0103C tabs bolts directly down onto the stator, Thus retaining the bearing securely into position. Add a drop of thread lock to each of the bolts before fitting. Tightening torque 12Nm.
5) Remove the flywheel nut and washer. It is most important to remove both the nut and washer. The nut TPER-0103A replaces both these components. Add thread lock and tighten to 65Nm.
6) Check all bolts again for security
7) Fit new gasket (supplied) and replace LH cover. Secure the bolts.
8) Refill oil.
9) Job done!
