Murray MacFarlane's Honda RVF400 NC35

April 2019.

Our customers Bike of the Month for April 2019 is the beautiful Honda RVF400 NC35 from Murrya MacFarlanem, who from Canberra Region in Australia

Here's his story on his bike

I initially saw a Honda RVF400 online in the early 2000's as they became available in Australia and just loved the look of them. Ever since then I've always wondered when I would actually make the effort and get one.

My example came to me after a previous owner had a mishap, damaged the TYGA Carbon fairings etc and sold it on.

It was subsequently pilfered of parts and I purchased it as a running engine in a frame with controls (and a few bits and pieces) on stands with no forks, wheels amongst many missing parts

Luckily, the Tyga Performance carbon fibre lower fairing was mostly intact and with some minor repairs began about sourcing parts over the next 10mths or so to get this rough diamond back on the road.

There were so many parts to find: From a chain guard, headlight, seats, grips to wheels and forks, let alone fairings, a tank and all the other smaller stuff along the way.

I had intended initially to source OEM fairings but these have become difficult to find in good condition and are becoming quite brittle with age.

I had a reasonably limited budget and so I learnt to paint throughout this build process using made to order aserosol cans to paint a combination of sourced fairings creating a hybrid OKI scheme (Image Works UK).

I was offered an OEM tail fairing piece along the way which seems to have married to the OKI scheme  quite well I think for now.

I have been very impressed by the effort, quality of all your products and your customer service at Tyga Performance.

The following Tyga Performance parts have been used so far:

  • Tyga Smoke Screen
  • Tyga Screen Brace
  • Tyga Carbon Fibre lower Fairing (painted).
  • Tyga Stainless exhaust silencer (with db killer) sounds amazing.
  • A lot of accessory parts like fairing bolts, brake rotor bolts and levers were also bought through Tyga Performance.

Brake pads and rubber hoses were replaced with new braided lines and pads.

I have been very lucky in the engine department as a fair amount of work had been completed previously by RB Racing (formally RB Imports) in Sydney Australia.

I bought the bike approx. March 2017 and was registered for the road again February 2018.

This bike is by no means a showroom bike but a steady work in progress which I take out every few weeks and get some kilometres on it which end up being about 2500km per year

I'm trying to care for the best I can. You will notice a bruise on the RHS of the tank which should hopefully be repaired over the next 12mths.

So where to from here; I'll be keeping this bike for a long time and so will continue working on it and one day get some bling on it like carbon air ducts or finish the Oki scheme thru and replace the tail with a Tyga one.

I have included a photo with a family members Suzuki RGV250 which I hope you like.

Finally a photo of what the bike used to look like before it was lunched which was dripping with Tyga goodness.
