NR750 TYGA Exhaust
This page is devoted to the custom made TYGA Performance exhaust system for the Honda NR750. As far as we know, it is the only aftermarket NR system available on the market . For those who are not familiar with this model, the bike is the only one in the World to have oval pistons. The exhaust has two ports per cylinder. This made the exhaust system a 8-4-2-1-2. Just to compound things, the exhaust is almost totally concealed within the carbon bodywork which costs anything from $5000 to $10,000 a panel so no room for' whoops that was a bit close to the bodywork and has burnt it, nevermind!'
You might wonder why make a pipe at all? Well the stock system is very ugly, heavy, restrictive and muffles the glorious exhaust note. A V4 oval piston 32 valve engine (really a V8) revving at 15,000 rpm is something that should be noticed in our opinion. If you are going to be riding a bright red $50,000 motorcycle, you might as well flaunt it with a decent exhaust note!
The whole Tyga system was built in-house by Tyga Performance's Technical Director, Matt Patterson, and took many long hours to design and fabricate. The tubing is stainless steel with a pair of small silencers that are much lighter than stock and give a nice fruity exhaust note. This system is available to the lucky few who own an NR750. Price on application.
Above are a few detail shots of the 8-4-2-1-2 system. We at Tyga enjoy a challenge and we certainly got one with this project!
Some comparisons between the stock system and our system fitted to the bike. You can see the usual ugly 1990's Honda practice of stamped double skin tubing on the stock system and the very heavy silencers.
Below are some comparisons of bike with pipe installed and bodywork on or off. There was not much room to play with!
Silencers are aluminium with stainless end caps but can be made using carbon if requested. The brushed anodised aluminium seemed to be more in-keeping with the era of the bike somehow and there was no weight penalty to speak of.
We now have the jigs for this system so if any of the remaining 321 owners of the NR750 want a system, we can make them to special order.
